A lot has tried to dim my light. I chose to fan the flame.
Journaling saved my life. What can journaling do for you?
We have more in common than you can imagine. Journaling is for everyone and always approachable. Hi, I’m Becca Rae. It is an honour to serve you and witness your growth.
A lot has tried to dim my light. I lit candles in the dark. I journaled.
Our own there and back again story.
It’s been over ten years since my “there and back again” journey, my great adventure as Frodo Baggins might say.
I was living in paradise, in East Vail, Colorado, and had it all.
I didn’t have a clue who I was though.
I also had no understanding of my well of strength within.
I was crushing it professionally and working multiple teaching jobs (high school, college, and in the community) while raising my son with Autism with my second husband.
Tragic events in our family called us out of Narnia to walk through the pits of hell together.
We almost lost each other. We almost lost it all. And in between, we lost three family members, experienced layoffs, lost two vehicles to accidents, experienced food and income challenges, and walked through Covid years highly scathed. Alcohol had its grip on my husband. Grief had a shadow over our lives. Abuse and fear lived within our walls. But Hope. But Faith. But God’s Grace, Love, and Mercy.
Nothing is impossible with God, the Light of Love.
Forgiveness gave way to the light and love within again. Healing and joy replaced our sorrow.
We built a beautiful life in the Adirondack Mountains where we enjoyed exploring our local woods and protected wildnerness.
Two years later, my son’s health called, and we moved to support him in his challenges to the Capital Region, outside of Albany, NY, following a call to serve urban charter schools in their missions. Sadly, both faced financial challenges and I lost both teaching positions to permanent layoff within sixteen months.
Happily though, God opens new doors, and we witness His loving compassion as we enter through in thanksgiving and joy.
A woman of Faith since I was young, I was brave, yet remembering my role as His Beloved again, has taken time, intentional healing, and a whole lot of journaling.
I had grown up serving within Church. I sang in Church Choir, on Worship Teams, served youth and as a Children’s Ministry Leader. I have taught at private Christian schools.
I healed early childhood trauma, abuse, my mother wound, abandonment issues, boundary challenges, and cleared money stories that did not serve us.
God was in the details and had a plan for our lives. In getting gritty, we healed our story.
It took years to understand it no less lay down and forgive the circumstances that tore us from the light of this dear former world.
Fast forward twelve years.
My life collapsed. My heart rebuilt. My career restored. My joy renewed. My family stronger than ever. My dreams last year coming true. Author. Writer. Teacher. Daughter held by The King for new and exciting exploration.
Humbled yet Blessed. God had great plans! We remain thankful and in a state of appreciation, every single day.
I am stronger at fifty-one than I ever knew I could be! I am proud of my family and the work only Love could do.
I documented the details. I found a sacred practice to lead the way.
Sacred Penning has been my guide.
Meeting Divinity between the pages, there is always a light to guide me Home and upward.
Always, elevation. Each brave pause, momentum.
My dreams have been coming true for the past three years as we had the courage to let the Light upon our shadows.
It’s available to us all.
I now hold out this daily journaling cycle to help you journal your way to brighter days.
I’ve taught writing and journaling for 26 years.
Journaling is a practice backed by scientific research to assist in strengthening mindset, sharpening focus, releasing anxiety, easing depression, and loosening trauma and abundance blocks that you may have stored in your body. Adding components of somatic connection, meditative relaxation, and intuitive connection to Spirit, amplify your everyday journaling practice.
Want to read more? I wrote a memoir that includes research on this powerful practice.
I invite you into your own healing practice.
